Mac McCurry - Senior Pastor

Picture
James “Mac” McCurry was born in Gastonia, North Carolina and grew up in Hartwell, Georgia. He knew at the age of 15 that God was calling him into Christian ministry. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Christian Education from Erskine College in Due West, South Carolina in 1992. After college, Mac moved to Kentucky and earned his Master of Divinity Degree from Southern Baptist Seminary in Louisville. He served part-time on staff in several churches while going to college and seminary, until he became a full-time pastor in 1995 at a church in Frankfort, Kentucky.

Mac came to Pleasant Valley North in November 2001. In his 19+ Years in Rome he has served on a couple of committees with within the Floyd County Baptist Association as well as on a couple of councils within the local school system.

Mac met his lovely wife Andrea in college. They have been married for 25 wonderful years and have 3 children: Rachel, Laura, and Caleb. Andrea somehow manages to care lovingly for her family while substitute teaching on a regular basis and devoting countless hours to many of PVN’s ministries, including music, drama, and women’s ministry. She often sings duets or trios with daughters Rachel & Laura and also enjoys helping on the landscaping committee at PVN.

When Mac is not visiting in hospitals or working on a sermon, Mac enjoys playing golf, reading and spending time with his family. He played tennis in high school and on his college’s tennis team but then took a break for a few years. He has recently started playing again in the past few years and can be coaxed into playing if you will take it easy on him. Tennis, anyone?

We welcome you to PVN!
