Clyde Hampton - Associate Pastor

Picture
Clyde Hampton was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and grew up in Ringgold, Georgia. He was called to the ministry in 1952, while a Junior in High School. He graduated from Ringgold High, received his Associate Degree from Truett-McConnell College, a Bachelor of Arts from Mercer University, and both Bachelor and Master of Divinity degrees from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary.

Pastor Clyde married Miss Alicia Bentley in 1956. Together they reared two children, Dr. Frank Hampton of Armuchee, and Johnna Hampton Walker of California. They delight in their four grandchildren: Ben and Lauren Hampton, and Cleo and Jace Walker. Alicia teaches a ladies’ Sunday School class at PVN and often accompanies Pastor Clyde on visits into the community. They are both active in the PVN Pilgrims.

After retiring from full-time ministry, the Hamptons moved to Armuchee, and Pastor Clyde was called to serve as Interim Pastor at PVN from May through November of 2001. After the arrival of Pastor Mac, he was called to remain at PVN as part-time Associate Pastor. He has also served as Chairman of the Georgia Baptist Endowment Committee, on the Executive Committee of the Georgia Baptist Convention, as Moderator of the Hebron Baptist Association, as Moderator of the Georgia Baptist Association, and as Chairman of the Floyd County Baptist Association’s Christian Social Committee.
Clyde has many hobbies, which include trout fishing, hunting, Native American artifacts, farming and taxidermy. His main interests are his family, his church, meeting people, writing, Trout Unlimited, Trail of Tears Association, reading, and the Sons of the American Revolution. He has written four books, about family, churches served, and outdoor adventures.

We welcome you to PVN!
