Mac McCurry

Mac McCurry - Senior Pastor

James "Mac" McCurry was born in Gastonia, N. Carolina, and grew up in Hartwell, Georgia. He accepted God's call into Christian ministry at the age of 15. He received his Bachelor's Degree in Christian Education from Erskine College in Due West, S. Carolina. He served part-time in various churches until becoming a pastor in 1995, after earning a Master of Divinity Degree from Southern Baptist Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky. We received him with great joy at PVN in November 2001. Since then, he has served on several committees with the Floyd County Baptist Association.

Mac has been married for 15 wonderful years to Andrea Moyer McCurry. The have 3 children: Rachel, Laura, and Caleb. Andrea somehow manages to care lovingly for her family while devoting countless hours to many of PVN's ministries, including children's activities, music, drama, and women's Bible studies. She often sings solos, or duets or trios with daughters Rachel & Laura.

Mac is pleased to be one of a growing number of Eagle Scouts in our community. His favorite leisure activities include golf, reading, and spending time with his family. He played on his college's tennis team, took a 16-year hiatus, and resumed playing last year. Tennis, anyone?


Clyde Hampton

Clyde Hampton - Associate Pastor

Clyde Hampton was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and grew up in Ringgold, Georgia. He was called to the ministry in 1952, while in Junior High School. He graduated from Ringgold High, received his Associate Degree from Truett McConnell College, a Bachelor of Arts from Mercer University, and both Bachelor and Master of Divinity degrees from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary.

Pastor Clyde married Miss Alicia Bentley in 1956, and she is still his sweetheart! Together they raised two children, Dr. Frank Hapton of Armuchee, and Johnna Hampton Walker of California. They delight in their four grandchildren: Ben and Laura Hampton, and Cleo and Jace Walker. Miss Alicia teaches a ladies' Sunday School clas, and often accompanies Pastor Clyde as he visits PVN members. They are both very active in the PVN Pilgrims.

After retiring from full-time ministry, the Hamptons moved to Armuchee, and Pastor Clyde was called to serve as Interim Pastor at PVN from May through November of 2001. After the arrival of Pastor Mac, he was called to remain at PVN as part-time Associate Pastor. He has also served as Chairman of the Georgia Baptist Endowment Committee, on the Executive Committee of the Georgia Baptist Convention, as Moderator of the Hebron Baptist Association, as Moderator of the Georgia Baptist Association, and as Chairman of the Floyd County Baptist Association's Christian Social Committee.

Clyde has many hobbies, which include trout fishing, hunting, Native American artifacts, farming and taxidermy. His main interests are his family, his church, meeting people, writing, Trout Unlimited, Trail of Tears Association, reading, and the Sons of the American Revolution. He has written four books, about family, churches served, and outdoor adventures.


Bob Agan

Bob Agan - Associate Pastor to Youth & College Students

Bob Agan was born and raised in Rome, GA. After graduating from Armuchee High School he joined the United States Air Force and worked in Aerospace Physiology for 8 years. After leaving the military he teamed up with the NASA program in Houston, TX and worked for Lockheed Martin/Jacobs Engineering. It was while in Houston Bob surrendered his life to the ministry in 2004 and began studying at Luther Rice Seminary in Lithonia, GA. After serving churches in Houston, TX and Augusta, GA, God called Bob to PVN in March of 2010.

Bob has been married to Suzanne Weatherford Agan for the past 12 years (and counting). A native of North Carolina, she is his partner in ministry and works as a teacher for Pepperell High School. She too has surrendered her life to serving God wherever He takes them in the ministry. God has blessed them with 1 wonderful daughter, Gabrielle Marie Agan, who is 10 years old. Together, they have a passion to take the message of Jesus to young people. They believe it to be a message that is taught from the Word but lived out in their life!


Eric Hall

Eric Hall - Children's Pastor

Eric is a native of Rome, GA and a graduate of Armuchee High School. After graduation, he pursued a ten year career in his family’s business before returning to college and completing a Bachelor of Information Technology degree from Southern Polytechnic State University in 2005. He was hired three weeks after graduation by Shorter University in Rome to maintain its website and eventually promoted to Systems Administrator.

It was during his tenure at Shorter that Eric felt God’s call to the ministry. Even though he had sensed His calling earlier in life, it was while assisting and working alongside employees at Shorter that he knew the love for people, their salvation, and the glory of God should be His primary purpose. In November, 2010, he surrendered to the ministry. Since 2011, God has graciously provided to Eric through the confidence of the PVN church the opportunity to serve as Children’s Minister where he is enjoying the role of ministering to children and promoting the name of Christ.


Jason Coffman

Jason Coffman - Minister of Music

Jason Coffman has lived all his life in Armuchee. His parents, Linda and Jerry Coffman, and his sisters Dawn Boyd, Kelli Stamey, and Jenny Taylor are all PVN members. Jason has been a member for more than 20 years, throughout his school years in the Armuchee system. Afte graduating from Armuchee High School, Jason earned a Bachelor of Science in Education from West Georgia College. He teaches Pre-Kindergarten at Glenwood Primary School.

Jason has long been active in PVN's music program, singing in the choir and blessing us with solos, as well as singing with his wife Stephanie, and with Dawn and his mother. He often substituded for former Ministers of Music before serving as the interim Worship Leader. He was "officially" designated Minister of Music in June 2007. His responsibilities include leading all worship services, as well as directing the adult choir.

Jason's wife Stephanie is a nurse with Harbin Clinic Pediatrics Department. They have two daughters, Kaylin and Kendall Juliann. When not working, Jason loves to spend time with his family and friends.


Laura Burkhalter

Laura Burkhalter - Pianist

Laura Burkhalter has been sharing her wonderful talent with us for more than twenty years. She plays for worship services; accompanies the choir, soloists, and ensembles; and blesses us with beautiful offeratory music every Sunday. She also directed the Children's Choir for fifteen years.

Laura was born and raised in Anniston, AL. She says "My mother was a wonderful Christian influence in my life. She led me in prayer when I accepted the Lord at the age of twelve. She gave me an opportunity to start taking piano lessons as a child, and that began my love of music. I grew to believe that God wanted me to develop the gift of music that He gave me." Larua earne a Bachelor of Music Education from Berry College, and taught in the Rome City Schools before becoming the Music Teacher at Glenwood Primary School.

Laura's husband Charles sings in the adult choir, and her daughter and son-in-law, Stephanie and Shane Wilson, are PVN members as well. Laura's favorite leisure activities are family times, music, and reading. She says "I consider it an honor and a priveledge to worship and serve with the people at PVN."


Marsha Coleman

Marsha Coleman - Keyboardist

Marsha Coleman provides accompaniment for all required worship services. As a Children's Choir Director, she is responsible for planning and leading music each week for 2nd through 5th grade, and for teaching music for Vacation Bible School. She has been at PVN since 1985, has served as keyboardist since 1998, and as Children's Choir Director since 2003. She also sings with the adult choir, with the trio "Wings", with various ensembles, and (lucky for us) solo.

Marsha attended Middle Georgia College, and works as a Paraprofessional in Glenwood Primary School's kindergarten. She says, "I was born and raised in Dublin, GA. The youngest of three children, I wa blessed to be reared in a Christian home. My love of music began with my Grandmother. She could not read music, but could play anything on the piano. As a child, I cherish the memories of her as I sat on her lap listening as she sang and played the piano. I thank God for His gift of music and count it a great joy to serve Him at PVN." Marsha has two sons: Josh is in the process of moving from Los Angeles to Atlanta; Andrew is a Music Busness student at Tennessee State University. Marsha enjoys music, reading, and fellowship with church family and friends.
